Checklist
Develop a consistency of movement
(run, shuffle) to the ball that allows the
player to be stopped and balanced on
contact.
Attention should be on the player facing
the target in advance of contacting the
ball. Players in the backcourt should
face the setter target area. The setter
should be facing the left front attack
area.
There is a consistent accuracy of the
set. The first contact to the setter is
consistent with location and trajectory.
The second contact to an LF or RF
target/attacker allows for an attack on
the third contact.
Players can locate the ball at their
midline and forehead, allowing for a
front set or back set
Players can set forward or backward
successfully. The accuracy will be a
work in progress. The focus will be on
legal contacts.
In multi-player situations, players
communicate effectively with
teammates. Calling "mine" in advance
of ball contact is key to committing to
executing the skill successfully.
