Activity: The main aim of the acitivity was to demonstrate the structure of a
seed. In order to demonstrate this, various seeds like moong dal, kidney
bean, pigeon pea and chickpea were soaked in water overnight to soften
the seed, coat of the seeds. These seeds were dissected during class in or
der to study their parts like the seed coat, cotyledons (seed leaf) and
embryo. The function of each part of the seed was discussed with students
by asking them the probing questions. The students thoroughly enjoyed the
demonstration and were motivated to try the activity by themselves after
the completion of teaching of this concept.
