Leos Shine a Light on Youth Vision Care

On Saturday, October 16, 2021, the District 20-K1 Leos
sponsored an informative virtual event entitled “It's Time for a
Check-Up: Vision Care for Youths (Birth to Age 21). The guest
speaker, Dr. Irene Frantzis ( SUNY Eye Center) presented a
PowerPoint demonstration that covered several aspects of vision
care including common eye conditions in young people. She
clarified the different types of eye exams, tests and procedures to
assess the health of the eye, the signs of impending vision Dr. Irene Frantzis and Leo Ilana Allen
problems and medical conditions that should be shared with your
eye care specialist during the office visit.

Attendees were provided with information about free
monthly Vision Screenings at the University Eye Center at the
SUNY College of Optometry.

Dr. Frantzis answered questions from the audience and
Leo Ilana Allen (Springfield Gardens Leo Club) shared that she
wears hard contact lens at night to correct her vision.
The event ended with a virtual Vote of Thanks by Lion
Natasha Pilgrim ( Leo Liaison) and the presentation of a Certificate
of Appreciation to Dr. Irene Frantzis.
The Leos of District 20-K1 look forward to planning more
informative and interesting events for the Leos and Lions of the
District.
