DISTRICT HERITAGE AND HISTORY COMMITTEE
Even with 1.4 million members, Lionism is still mostly a secret. District 20-K1’s proud history of diversity,
kindness and service, however, should be shared, not only with our wider community but, with each other.
We should no longer keep secret the good that we, as individual clubs and a unified district, do.
And so, District Governor Anthony Cochran has appointed The District Heritage & History Committee to
assist him with the District 20-K1 Lions Clubs History Project.
During the first week of September, letters were sent to clubs by the Committee members, introducing
the project and asking for their participation by providing specific historical club information. The requested
information will make up a District 20-K1 History Book which will be available for a small donation.
Each club was asked to provide to the requesting committee member:
• A Brief History of the club including Charter date and list of Charter Members,
• Current Club Officers,
• Signature Club Projects,
• Outstanding club awards (Leadership, Membership, Service)
• (2) Club pictures, specifically
(1) consisting of the Charter members
(1) consisting of current members performing a service project.
All information provided from the clubs will be published, therefore information/pictures received
should be with the approval of the Club Board of Directors and membership. A release is required for photos of
living members.
The cooperation and enthusiastic participation of our clubs will be greatly appreciated.
