50 MARATHON

On November 7, 2021, District 20-K1 Lions of Brooklyn and
Queen “Teaming Together” made headlines again doing
what they do best, serving others.
Led by District Governor Anthony B. Cochran, Lion
William Crumpe, (Event Chairperson) and Lion Annette
Brathwaite,(Co-Chairperson), the team was ready. Lions International runners Lions providing water to runners
were dressed in their yellow vests and New York Road
Runners (NYRR) red and green frock. They were properly
identified with necessary badges and bubbling with high
energy and anticipation.
The assigned location, Mile 8 Fluid Station was at Bergen
Street & 4 Avenue. They were prepared to serve more
th
than 33,000 runners as they passed this water station.
Lions “served from the heart” providing water, gatorade,
energy gels, and encouragement to runners.
The 26.2 mile Marathon course started in Staten Island
took runners through the five boroughs of New York City,
in celebration of its 50 anniversary. 2 VDG Robles with Lions refilling water cups for marathoners

More than one million spectators lined the streets in
support of professional runners from all over the world.
More than 10,000 people volunteered their service.
