Task 3.3
ROLEPLAY: In this activity, students will practice how to handle different types of
audience.
- Your teacher will divide the class in groups and each group will consist of four
persons.
- Each member of the group will have different roles.
o Student A: A speaker/presenter who delivers a short speech. You can use
the script of speech from the previous unit. The speaker should pay
attention to the audience while he/she is delivering the speech.
o Student B: Audience of the speech who is bored and does not pay attention
to the speech. He/she is listening to the speech while playing with his/her
smartphone.
o Student C: Audience who does not understand what the speaker is saying
about. She/he is trying to ask other audience next to him/her but ends up
disturbing him/her instead.
o Student D: Audience who always opposes the idea of the speaker. He/she
often raises her/his hands to interrupt the speech.
- Your group should make a roleplay based on the scenario above and show how
the speaker handles different types audience above.

Work in a group of four. Watch the video and discuss whether the speaker
is confident enough or nervous during the speech. Show the evidences supporting your
arguments. Discuss also some possible ways to handle nervousness during speech.
