care, it's the steps a nurse can take to prepare the patient for their stay, including preparing them for any
               possible future procedures.
There are four forms of admissions in a hospital setting. First is emergency admission which comes from a
patient going through a dangerous situation that creates a serious risk to their safety or health. And then,
there is also urgent care admission that involves a patient that requires immediate attention for care that is
not as immediately life-threatening as an emergency. While for a patient to schedule a visit to the hospital,
we have elective admission. This can include a diagnosis for ongoing treatment, surgery, or other chronic
illness treatment. The last type of admission is a newborn admission which is when the patient is a newborn
baby. This can include births inside or outside the admitting hospital.
Many hospitals hire admitting nurses to develop evidence-based nursing care plans as seen from the
amount of time patients spend in the hospital which continues to be drastically reduced. Using a dedicated
admissions nurse may also prove to take the stress off the floor nurses who can’t keep up with their own
work while admitting and discharging a continual stream of patients.
