50 Years of Adventure
The 50th anniversary of Travel Guide welcomes
visitors to Experience Southeast Alaska.
For the last fifty years, the publisher Scott
Graber has traveled up lonely stretches of endless
highways, boarded small planes bound for remote
villages, crossed ferries on rough seas, and sat
beside riverbanks where bears fish for salmon.
Along the way, he built something—an amazing life
and a publication that celebrates the beauty and
grandeur of the northern landscape: Travel Guide.
The idea began simply. Living only 65 miles from
the Canadian border in Northwest Montana, Scott
recognized there was no publication connecting
travelers with businesses and attractions on both
sides of the border. He set out to create one.
The first 32-page magazine has today become
seven distinct publications connecting travelers
with the stories, people, and businesses of Alaska, FREE DIGITAL EDITIONS NOW AVAILABLE

one of the most spectacular coastal environments in
North America. Connected by ferries, floatplanes,
and winding waterways rather than highways,
communities like Ketchikan, Petersburg, Sitka,
Wrangell, and Juneau each possess their own
distinct character and history.
As Travel Guide enters its next chapter, the
spirit of exploration remains unchanged. There are
still new roads to travel, new stories to tell, and
new adventures waiting just beyond the horizon.
