provided the sound wasn’t affected by the presence of the outer one. If,
however, the inner shofar does not protrude at both ends, he does not fulfill his
obligation [even] if the sound wasn’t modified, because the Torah says to blow
one shofar and not two. Some however permit this if the inner shofar protrudes
on the side closer to his mouth, even if the wider end does not, provided it is not
longer than the inner shofar, which would be invalid because it is two shofars. 27
]8[ Since we hold that [one must blow] one shofar and not two, if one added
the smallest amount to the end of the shofar, it’s not valid, whether it is the same

species or a different one. Therefore, even if he glued pieces of a broken shofar
together, even without glue, just by melting the pieces together [it is invalid].
Even if he adds such pieces to a larger piece which itself would be a valid shofar, it
is not valid, since he added a like or unlike species, it is considered two shofars. 29
]9[ This is all if he added on to its length. If however, he coated the outside of

the shofar [it is valid]. Even if he coated it with gold or another unlike substance,
if he didn’t coat the place where he places his mouth, but rather further down, on
the outer part, it is valid, provided [the coating] didn’t modify its sound. However,
31
if he coated the place where he puts his mouth, it is not valid. Since there are
many variables in these halachos, one should be careful with this that at least the

sound from the outer shofar too. This is not that the Shulchan Aruch also agrees with this

(Tur) measurement and therefore rules stringently

from the inner shofar. Technically, the same together, it is not valid. Although this might
should be true if the wide ends are completely only refer to a case where there was no full
