tears to my eyes to see the thousands of crosses in the cemetery com-
memorating the lives of brave men who helped save human freedom.
All those men were young and should have had much longer to live.

Versailles, the palace and the garden behind, should impress
anyone. The next day we were in Paris. The Cathedral of Notre Dame

windows in the cathedral really impressed him. In subsequent days, we
visited all the usual sites in Paris, which the boys really enjoyed. We
spent only part of a day at the Louvre whereas we could have spent
        much longer.

for the last couple of days. Throughout the time in France we had pur-
chased bottled water and had warned the boys against drinking from any
fountain or other source. Despite our instruction, Paul drank some tap
water and got a violent case of diarrhea. The last two days in Paris were
        utterly lost for him.

and geography and, as years went by, they traveled extensively them-
selves. Jean and I consider the cost of that trip one of the best invest-
        ments we ever made.

Two months after returning from the trip with the boys, Alice
and Janet invited me to join them in a trip to England. Jean did not feel

more of the sights. For reasons which I’m unable to explain, I never visit
Victoria Station without feeling a remembrance of my Dad, who had
often been there during his mission. We stayed at St. Margaret’s Hotel,
which is only a block away from the British Museum. The museum is
endlessly fascinating. Westminster Cathedral is a large brick building.
I went to the top of the tower. In the 1950s, I had seen the initials ESH
scratched in the brick outside the barred window in the tower. I’d al-
ways wondered if it had been my Father who did the scratching while
