on his mission. In any case, it had now been obliterated. The Museum of
Science and Industry was fascinating, as was the Imperial War Museum.
I took a boat trip down the Thames to Kew Gardens. The collection

California, so they were of no special interest.

I enjoy plays in the theatre, but one of the highlights was the
evening we attended “Miss Saigon.” The play was good, but the recon-
struction of the American evacuation of Saigon, which included an ac-

            our custom.

Alice was pregnant with what proved to be Zoe. True to her
mother’s tradition, she sometimes had to stop and vomit in a garbage
can, but she traveled right on and ate with the rest of us. We had a good
            time together.
In May of 1993, Alice and Janet suggested another trip. Jean did

from lakeside to high in the hills.

The girls and I got a huge laugh out of a fellow who had been
drunk enough that he passed out on a bench near the lake. The fellow
had not only lost control of his bladder, he had leaked through his pants
and had ran at least 30 feet down the hill. What a tank!

In the subsequent days Janet drove through Switzerland to Lu-
gano. We had intended to visit the American School in Switzerland,
which Janet had attended in 1958-9. The school had expanded greatly
with an entirely new campus. We toured that, but were sorry to have
missed seeing her former school buildings.
We then drove to Venice. After a day touring there, we drove to
Florence. The Tuscany area was most attractive and we saw the sights
