group affects the success of the individual student. Assessment is based on the
achievement of individual and group learning outcomes.
7. Complex Instruction (CI). This method of learning emphasizes the implementation of a
discovery-based project, especially in the areas of science, mathematics, and social
studies. The focus is on developing the interest of all group members in the subject
matter. It is often used in bilingual learning and among highly diverse students. The
assessment is based on the process and results of the group work.
8. Team Accelerated Instruction (TAI). This form of learning is a combination of
cooperative/collaborative learning with individualized learning. Gradually, each
member of the group is given questions to complete individually. Then they are
evaluated together as a group. If the first stage problems are solved correctly, each
student works on the next stage problems. However, if a student has not solved the first
level problem correctly, he or she must solve another problem in the same level. Each
stage of the problem is arranged according to the level of difficulty of the problem.
Assessment is based on individual and group learning outcomes.
9. Cooperative Learning Structures (CLS). In this type of learning, each group is made up
of two students (in pairs). One student is the tutor and the other is the tutee. The tutor
asks questions for the tutee to answer. If the tutee's answer is correct, he or she receives
points or a predetermined score. At a predetermined time interval, the two paired
students change roles.
10. Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition (CIRC). This learning model is
similar to TAI. As the name implies, this learning model emphasizes reading, writing,
and grammar. In this learning, students evaluate each other's reading, writing and
grammar skills both in writing and orally in their groups.
Furthermore, Husain (2020) outlines the steps that can be taken to implement
collaborative learning as follows:
1. Students in the group set learning goals and assign tasks individually;
2. All students in the group read, discuss, and write;
