The Moving Truck Disaster
hen we arrived in Hamilton, the moving truck was nowhere to be found. Days passed with no sign of it. Weeks
Wlater, we learned that it had caught fire on the New York Thruway. Ours was the last load on the truck, and most
of our belongings were destroyed. Thankfully, Helen had insisted on full insurance coverage. She had documented every
single item, right down to the paper clips. Thanks to her meticulous records, the insurance replaced our belongings, even
upgrading our medical and nursing textbooks to newer editions. However, the fire destroyed all the photos from our
time in Boston. While friends and family helped replace some, we lost many irreplaceable memories, including most of
Michael’s baby pictures. He had been born just before we moved to Boston. While friends and family helped replace
some photos, we lost many irreplaceable memories.
