The Truscott Legacy in Kingston

y maternal grandparents, Sam and Jessie Truscott , were pivotal figures in my childhood. Sam, a Queen’s University
MArts graduate in 1903, was a school inspector for Frontenac County. He traveled to remote schools by horse and

buggy or sleigh. The barn behind their house in Kingston still stands, a reminder of that era. The Truscott family had

moved to the Harrowsmith, Ontario area from Cornwall, England in the mid-1800s. As expected, they were all expert
masons. Jessie created a warm and loving environment for our family visits. Jessie was one of eight daughters (no sons) of

Thomas Ferguson, part of a large family who came to the Inverary, Ontario area from Ireland in the early 1800s. The family

              home still exists.
