Post-War Moves and Education
n 1944-45, we left Ajax and moved to Etobicoke as my father began transitioning to his eventual specialty, dermatology.
II attended kindergarten in Sunnylea School, a brand-new facility then. We lived at 46 Elsfi eld Road. In 1945-46, my
father relocated to New York City so he could train in dermatology at Bellevue Hospital. However, my mother and I stayed
during that year in Kingston, Ontario with my grandparents, Sam and Jessie Truscott, because of post-war constraints.
Their home at 74 Nelson Street holds many fond memories, including my grade one school year there at Rideau School.
Sadly today 74 Nelson has been divided into a number of rooms for Queen’s students.
