The Piano in the Lake
n the main living area of the cottage, there once stood an enormous piano. Over time, it became unplayable and
Iimpractical. Th e decision was made to remove it, but what does one do with an ancient, cumbersome piano? Th e
solution, apparently, was to take it out onto the frozen lake in winter and let it sink to the bottom when the ice melted. To
this day, somewhere in the depths of the lake lies a relic of our cottage’s history, a silent monument to a bygone era.
iving at the cottage came with its own set of rules and habits, many of which would be unthinkable today. Back
Lthen, our garbage was disposed of by wrapping it up with a rock, taking it out to the middle of the lake in a boat,
and sinking it. It was just how things were done in those days—a different time, with different norms.
