2.2 To who should we talk, where and when?
In principle, you can start from a grassy field and fly around the whole of
Denmark without turning on the radio. You just have to avoid the places where
radio connection is required!
Where to talk to someone?
Who to talk to?
2.2.1 CTR - TOWER
If you are going to enter a CTR (control zone), you must have permission from
TOWER.
You can make a call to Karup Tower and “request to cross Control zone from
south to north at 1200 ft”.
TOWER then have to know what type of aircraft you are flying and number of
persons on board, as well as where you have departed from, where you want to
land, and how long your endurance (how long you can fly with the fuel you have)
The reason for submission of information is that you are offered alerting service,
and to give you this service the controller needs the information.
2.2.1.1 Clearance
You will be given a clearance (permission) to cross.
You repeat the clearance to TOWER so that TOWER is sure that you have
understood what you have been given permission to do and what the conditions
are in this regard.
e.g.: Cross west of the airfield and report 2 NM south of the extended
centerline QNH 1020.
