               3.4     The Radio


               The requirement for the pilot to be allowed to use the radio equipment is that

               he has familiarized himself with how the equipment works.




               3.4.1   Radio equipment


               This may be equipment like shown on the picture below.



























               At the top is an audio panel with intercom.


               Via this, the different radios are connected to speakers or headsets, and it is
               determined which radio is used for transmission and receiving.




               Under the audio panel is a combined COM/NAV radio.


               The com part is on the left, and you can see the active frequency on COM 1 is

               122.350  MHz.  Below,  in  blue  is  the  standby  frequency,  118.100  displayed,

               waiting to be switched over as the active one.




               Familiarize  yourself  thoroughly  with  how  the  radio  works,  because  problems
               with the radio occur when, for example, you press the wrong button under stress

               or fail to properly plug in a headset.
