We in the aircraft are also allowed to abbreviate the call sign to Herning Radio,

and call the station “Herning” or “Radio”

Below are examples of the use of call signs and their abbreviations.

4.3 Aircraft call signs

Callsigns are letters that indicate an aircraft's unique identification, which are
used to ensure clear and unambiguous communication between the aircraft and

the ground unit.

The first or first two letters of the callsign tell where the aircraft is registered. For

example, OY is the designation for aircraft under Danish registration.

4.3.1 Letters

As call signs for aircraft, one of the three types specified below must be used:

A) Letters or numbers consisting of the aircraft registration (Make or type

may be included as shown in the example below).

B) The airline's telephone designation followed by the last four letters or

numbers of the aircraft registration.

C) The airline's telephone designation followed by the route number.

The above call signs may be abbreviated - except for type C.
