Operational procedures

The image here shows how

navigation lights are

interpreted at night.

If an aircraft is approaching

from left to right, you will see

a green and a white light.

There should then be non as you have the right-of-way.

If you look at the upper half on the right, you will see a red and a white light.

Red means give way, and here you must give way by changing course to the

right and flying behind the other aircraft.

The examples below show lights that you can see on an aircraft approaching

from the front. Remember to turn right here so that you comply with your duty

to give way.

If the aircraft shown in the lower right half of the image is about to be overtaken

by you, you have the duty to give way and must turn right and pass behind the

overtaken aircraft.

6.3.7 A final check

Immediately before commencing a flight, the commander shall ensure:

a. that the instruments and equipment installed in the airplane are operational and

meet the requirements for the intended flight
