In February 2017, Tronox announced the R30.69-billion
acquisition of the Titanium Dioxide production assets
of Cristal, a privately held global chemical and mining
company. With the acquisition, Tronox will become the
largest and most highly integrated TiO2 producer in the
world, with operations on six continents, managing 19
plants. With the acquisition of Cristal’s Smelter, Tronox
will now own three of the seven ilmenite smelting
facilities in the world.
Safety and the environment
Tronox also believes in long term sustainability and
focuses on rehabilitation of the land once we have
completed our mining operations. The rehabilitation
of the Hillendale mine has now become a showcase to
other plants around the world.

Environmental Management System, ISO 9001:2008 requirements are understood, implemented, maintained
Quality Management System, and the OHSAS and regularly reviewed.
