the Holy Place and the most Holy Place. The wash basin is
placed in between the altar of burnt offering and the tent.
The priests conducted the ritual without putting on their
shoes. The floor of the temple was a bare earth. Have you
lived on the ground without having shoes on? The feet
becomes dirty in no time. Is it the ground only? The Altar
of burnt offering was a place where the slaughter-ing of the
animals and sprinkling of the blood were conducted. The
hands and body of the priests were always covered in the
blood of the animals. That is why the instruction on washing
of the body was given.
The wash basin represents a water baptism. Our bodies
have been cleansed at the wash basin. This is the water
baptism. The water baptism is a symbol of Jesus’s burial and
resurrec-tion. All of our sins have been forgiven through the
water baptism and we have been born again through Christ.
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the
old has gone, the new has come!” (2 Corinthians 5:17)
