Everyone Has Problems
Have you ever known anyone without problems? If you think you do, think
again. Everyone has them. They are just different than yours.
Some of you reading this book might be dealing with severe health
problems. Others could be experiencing problems in relationships. Still
more are suffering from enormous financial problems. When it comes to
problems, everyone has at least one.
Remember PEZ candy dispensers? The ones that stack the little candy
pieces so that when you pulled one out, another one moves up to take its
place at the top?
Troubles are like that PEZ candy; deal with one and another one comes to
the top.
The problem at the top of the other guy’s PEZ is as important to him as the
problem at the top of your PEZ. When we communicate non-
empathetically, we say, “My problems are more important than yours.”
Nothing could be further from the truth.
In the eyes of the other, his or her problems are at the top, not yours.
