Check Your Empathy Level
How do we know whether we communicate empathy or not? Check your
empathy level by asking yourself these questions:
• Do I show that I am listening to the other person?
• Does my body language indicate that I am interested in what is being
said?
• Does my tone of voice reflect interest or understanding of the other
person?
• Do I acknowledge what is being said to me?
• Do I indicate an appreciation of what the other person is
experiencing?
• Do I indicate a willingness to learn more, even just a little more,
about what the other person is experiencing?
If you answer NO to these questions, don’t expect to get selected as
“Manager of the Year” by your employees at the next annual banquet.
