Booker T. Washington once said, “When we can teach our children that it
takes as much dignity to plow a field as it does to write a poem, we will
achieve socially.”
Communicate this in everything you work at: “I’m proud of what I do. Let
me show you how this job is done well.”
Every time you reach out to take your paycheck, you are stating that you
have done the best you can do for that pay. If you are giving less than your
best, you are cheating the company. Don’t be upset, then, when the
company cheats you!
Likewise, it is just as important to let others know when we notice how they
do their jobs. Their dignity shows, for instance, when they do just that little
bit more that separates their work from all others.
There is a simple way to let others know you appreciate the work they do.
It may the cleaning person at your office, it might be the mailman, or your
secretary, or your boss.
It is easy to remember, simple, but amazingly powerful.
It goes like this…..
“Thank you.”
