It is similar to the gift a young South African in Florida boy brought his
teacher on Christmas: a shell the teacher knew was from miles down the
coast.
The boy beamed as his teacher admired the shell. “This is beautiful”,
exclaimed the teacher, “but you shouldn’t have walked so far to get me a
gift”.
With a glowing smile, the boy replied “The long walk is part of the gift!’
Courteous conversation requires some effort, some thought. For many of
us, it is not easy.
But the effort…the long walk…is part of the gift.
And what better gift could we give or receive than thoughtful
communications?
