There are three user categories such as the Lecturer, the Examination Coordinator (Administrator), and
the Examination unit. Each user plays their roles and functions in managing and launching the
examination question paper vetting process.
Lecturer
The question vetting procedure begins with the course or module organizer soliciting questions from
lecturers who teach that module a few months before the semester or professional test. Subject areas
(module/discipline), kind of questions, and the number of questions to be submitted from each module
are communicated to lecturers (Shahid & Nordin, 2016).
Examination Coordinator
The organization of vetting sessions implicates teamwork comprising of teaching faculty members in
different roles through equal contribution to improving the quality of the test items. These
interchangeable roles are first, the administrative aspect, primarily the responsibility of the chairman
or coordinator followed by the technical aspects, taken care of by the lecturer. Thirdly, the content
aspects with major input from subject experts, module coordinators, and those who design the questions.
Lastly, language aspects contributed by all involved such as module educationists, experts, and
coordinators. Ideally, a review or vetting committee should comprise several members in the panel
depending on the level of vetting.
Examination Unit
The Examination unit is one of the departments that will be managing and setting up the process of
examination vetting papers during the beginning of the new semester. The Examination Unit will
schedule committee members and lecturers to set up the vetting procedure so that the examination
vetting paper can be administered regularly.
