Prioritizing safety and wellbeing
2026 Goal: Safety and wellness are demonstrated
organizational priorities and recognized as essential for the
success of our mission and strategy. Everyone is trained,
supported, and encouraged to work safely and to contribute to
the safety of the work environment and the wellbeing of their
colleagues. Everyone who works at Unity Health Toronto sees
themselves as part of a larger imperative to advance equity and
for creating a safe and welcoming environment for all.
Strategic Objectives
• Safety and wellness supports will be expanded to reach staff
across all sites.
• Safety and the protection of the workforce will be advanced
as a fundamental consideration in every project or initiative
at the planning, execution, and evaluation stage
• We will continue to create environments where people from
diverse backgrounds and with diverse abilities can thrive
• We will continue to encourage and equip staff to engage in
better support self care, recognizing individual circumstances
• Promote and nurture a responsive culture of safety and
wellness where health and safety best practices are
incentivized, evaluated and reinforced
• We will hold everyone accountable to fulfill their role to
create safe, respectful and inclusive work environments
• We will nurture mental health in the workplace by expanding
availability of mental health, physical, and psychological
safety resources across the organization
• Grow capacity to address trauma and create spaces to
safely address systemic inequities and racism
