If using ropes to tie a load down on a trailer, secure Suggested Reading
one end of the rope to the trailer with a bowline knot.

sufficiently secured, then finish off with a clove hitch to
secure the rope to the trailer. The clove hitch will not
come undone even if tension is applied to one strand or
the other.
