A correctly applied bandage gives light, even pressure. It is firm enough to hold dressings in
place but does not restrict the circulation. Overtight bandages can cause pressure sores, skin
sloughs (Figure 3.21) and tendon damage. Loose bandages are ineffective and can be
dangerous.
