• The hotel uses water-softening system that

leads to lower water consumption. Research

documents that when detergent is premixed

with water, before water is pumped into the

washers, it leads to almost 30% savings in

water usage (Walker and Walker, 2012).

Matahari Resort and Spa, have been quick to

adapt these findings since all the hotel‘s

laundry gets automatically dosed.

• Solar energy is used to heat water thereby

conserving electricity consumption.

• Sustainability is also dovetailed in the menu

offering as unprocessed and natural products

are promoted in the cuisine. Here the hotel

serves as a fine example of collaborating with

local communities (Partnership of STMM)

since it sources its herbs from partner

plantations and local farmers, in turn,

educating them as well, about producing

through ecofriendly measures.
