connected with ‗national representation,‖

                                    ―symbolic foundations‖ and ―sense of

                                    belongingness‖ (Park, 2010). According to

MacDonald (2006), heritage can be identified

as the tangible indication of one‘s own cultural

characteristics, which can be understood as

                                    activities connected with ―continuity,

                                    persistence and substantiality of collective

identity.‖ Heritage tourism is often understood

as a consumer driven phenomenon and hence

its capitalist facets are quite evident in its

marketing activities. This is in fact a deterrent

                                    to its sustainability.

                                    Heritage varies between two extremes—built

heritage and natural. Built heritage sites like

museums, forts, etc., are privileged due to

                                    maintenance activities by the managing

organization. This is at times guided by its

tour-ism demand and also due to the

management philosophy of gaining profits for

which the managing organization would focus

on promoting the heritage value of the site.

Natural heritage is connected with natural

                                    vegetation, mountains, beaches, forests, etc.
