Top Mistakes with Management Systems
5. Not determining what measurables are
important to process and manage. Define what
is already measured and how that links to your
current processes. Then define the measurables
for the balance of the key processes and which
ones are required by your management system.
Document, train, track, and look for
improvements. Management should take action if
goals are not met.
6. Process Auditing versus Auditing by each
element of the standard. Train your internal
auditor on a process approach. Create key
process auditing forms and reference the
applicable elements of the standard you are
using. Be sure everyone understands the hand-
offs between processes, who is responsible and
what are the performance measurables.
7. Past due calibrations, audits and
management reviews. Utilize computer software
to track and stay on top of your system schedule.
Management reviews should help eliminate
weaknesses in your system.
8. Little or no companywide understanding of
corrective action or preventive action
records. Take credit for your plans. Campaign
for a companywide understanding on how to
document your corrective and preventive action
