Literacy & Awareness Act (H.R.4555)

• Reintroduced by Reps. Tony Cárdenas (D-CA)

and Gus Bilirakis (R-FL)

• Authorizes $750,000/year for a multi-year

oral health literacy campaign across HRSA to
develop and test evidence-based strategies

• HRSA will measure the outcomes and
effectiveness of various oral health literacy

strategies within vulnerable populations

• In the FY19, 20, 21 HHS funding, money has

been set aside for HRSA to develop an oral
health literacy initiative, also in pending FY22

funding
