Student Loans

• Resident Education Deferred Interest (REDI) Act (H.R.4122)
• Allows medical and dental students to defer interest accrual on their

federal student loans while serving in an internship or residency
program.

• Dental Loan Repayment Assistance Act (H.R.1285/S.449)

• Exempts certain Dental Faculty Loan Repayment Program
participants from having to pay income tax on the federal loan

repayments they receive

• HIV Epidemic Loan-Repayment Program (HELP) Act (H.R.2295)

• Creates a loan repayment program for providers who agree to
provide HIV dental care in a HPSA or clinical site that is funded
under the Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program

• Protecting Our Students by Terminating Graduate Rates that Add to
Debt Act (POST GRAD) Act (H.R.4631)

• Reinstates eligibility for graduate and professional students to use
federal Direct Subsidized Stafford Loans.
