Dental Coverage for Former Foster Youth

• The Foster Youth Dental Act (H.R.1794) was reintroduced in March

with the support of AGD

• Bill would expand Medicaid’s Early and Periodic Screening,

Diagnostic, and Treatment (EPSDT) dental services benefit for

former foster youth eligible between the ages of 21 and 26

• To incentivize dental provider participation, the Medicaid

reimbursement rate for oral health services provided to this group
of eligible patients would be made equal to the higher of:

• the state-submitted median private sector dental rate, or

• the national median private sector dental rate.

• AGD spearheaded an effort in June to have 14 allied dental

associations from the Organized Dentistry Coalition (ODC) endorse
