 St. Louis Community College Transportation Building – $30 million – also new
construction. This win is a great example of how even the smallest of projects can build
relationships and trust. The small classroom projects that finished up this year gave a
chance to cultivate a relationship leading to the big one! This project is being led by
Lori Everett, and designed by Cory Kamholz.
• Building the Team
o Design Principal, Cory Kamholz, was hired to be our Higher Ed designer alongside Carol
Stolt.
o Identified key players in each office to support Higher Ed, identifying ‘new’ talent within.
o We have a dynamic team, many who are new to Higher Ed or the firm, in general. We see
great camaraderie and synergy and are excited to continue building the team.
o Steve Hafer joined FGMA with a PK-12 focus but also holds connections with Higher Ed
institutions in the Fort Worth area.

2022 GOAL 3 – Leverage expertise/experience among offices to pursue and compete for work:

• With new team members who have extensive experience in Higher Ed and the new large
project recently awarded, we have the bench depth and experience to pursue larger projects
and a broader array of building types with seasoned Higher Ed staff members.

2022 GOAL 4 – Prioritize finding synergies across practice areas:

• Harper College Emergency Services Training Center – a study awarded to FGMA with not
much effort due to our Business and Social Science Building win and FGMA’s great reputation
for our work in public safety.
• 2023 Goal to expand in the NoVA region. Reston is currently working on emergency response
training centers for two community colleges.

2022 GOAL 5 - Raise/Re-build FGMA's profile in the Higher Ed Community at a local and national level
- increase visibility:
• Increase visibility through publications, speaking engagements and activity with organizations.
o Publications – Carol Stolt crafted an article published in American School & University
o Speaking Engagements – Cory Kamholz spoke at Chicago Build. Carol Stolt and Jan
Behounek spoke at Society of College and University Planner (SCUP) North Central
conference in Chicago on Neurodiversity in Higher Education, followed by a similar
presentation for the Missouri Community College Association conference in St. Louis.
• Emphasis on strategy for pursuits - improved quality in our proposals and marketing materials
yielding:
o Forty-three pursuits, six interviews
o Re-engaged with old partners – KWK for student housing
o Engaged with new partners – RAMSA
o Pursuits were evaluated and pursued more intentionally
