FAITH-BASED PROGRESS IN 2022
As in previous years FGMA continue to be an Architect-of-choice for church-related design in the
central Texas market area. Independent and Evangelical groups continue to be a strong market
segment for us. Catholic and Orthodox project have been fewer, but steady. We have seen stronger
connection to Faith Based school project possibilities which pair well with the burgeoning PK12 staff.
PROGRESS ON 2022 GOALS
GOAL 1 Reposition FGMA as a Faith-Based design thought leaders in our regions.
Strategy 1- Attend more conferences and become presenters.
In previous years neither the Austin or Reston Faith-Based staffs had not been regularly
attending Faith-Based conferences. In 2022 we attend two CFX in Dallas and Catholic
Facilities Managers Conference in Denver. We are assessing their marketing usefulness.
Kennedy and Bobby are proposing session topics one or both to make presentations at a
2023/24 Faith-Based conferences. Other possible conferences are under consideration to
determine the right fit.
Strategy 2- Identify websites and publications through which our Faith-Based team
members can share their expertise by writing articles. Be strategic about selecting those
outlets in order to increase FGMA name recognition and/or can encourage potential Faith-
Based clients to choose us for their projects.
Potential publications that would reach our target decision makers have been difficult. This
effort will be an elevated priority for 2023- and in process with Bob Galloway, Davis Polkinghorn
and Kennedy Colombo
Strategy 3- - Develop a social media/PR approach that is successfully implemented. Social
media post issued monthly or at least bi-monthly.
In late 2022 we started a FGM Church Studio Instagram account to highlight that work.
GOAL 2 Integrate the Faith-Based segment of our new Reston VA office by collaboratively including
their Faith-Based experience into our FGMA Faith-Based strategic plan. Explore how we can
learn from each other’s expertise in Faith-Based projects.
In several discussions we have found great commonalities between our approached to our
church work an the clients. Kennedy Colombo spent time in Northern Virginia with Neal
Rosebury and Bobby Cielo. SWOT analyses lead by Kennedy in both office separately in
both office yielded many similarities as well as ideas about how to shore up weaknesses.
While we may not be able to do much coordinated firm wide marketing of projects because
of the regional nature of most faith based work, we do plan to coordinate strategic approach
and share marketing materials and portfolios.
GOAL 3 Develop cross-marketing opportunities with multiple practice areas. Leverage market
expertise to compete for new work. Faith-Based education seems to be a highly compatible
sub-market with our PK12 practice areas in all regions. Kennedy Colombo to coordinate with
all PK12 regional coordinators.
Reston’s strong Multi Family Practice Area presents unique opportunities to pursue an
expanding market- the redevelopment of older urban church properties as multifamily, elder
housing or student housing locations. Ren Burns is seeing real activity in this redevelopment
typology in DC area and Kennedy C. and Ren coordinate strategy to pursue leads and in Q1
2023.
