Page 49 - Creating Whimsical Characters Using Simple Wood and Paper Forms, Wire, Paperclay, and Encaustic Medium
P. 49
I asked Gerry to make me a cardboard bass to scale so I could
sculpt Dev without messing up the beautiful bass.
He traced the shape of the bass on cardboard and used an X-Acto
knife to cut out the shape for the front and the back.
He used pieces of balsa wood to compensate for the depth of the
body and the depth of the top of the bow.
Paperclay will attach itself to any porous area it is touching. It’s best
if you provide a barrier like wax paper to keep it from adhering to
the cardboard bass.
I used masking tape and wax paper to cover the areas that Dev
would be touching.
