I asked Gerry to make me a cardboard bass to scale so I could

             sculpt Dev without messing up the beautiful bass.













































             He traced the shape of the bass on cardboard and used an X-Acto

             knife to cut out the shape for the front and the back.


             He used pieces of balsa wood to compensate for the depth of the
             body and the depth of the top of the bow.


             Paperclay will attach itself to any porous area it is touching. It’s best

             if you provide a barrier like wax paper to keep it from adhering to
             the cardboard bass.


             I used masking tape and wax paper to cover the areas that Dev

             would be touching.
