First, I had to rough out Dev’s form and figure out how he was

             going to play the bass.


             Then I turned the doughboy version of Dev into a sculpted one.









































             I started with a child wooden people form. I roughed out his head,
             arms, and legs and found a pose where he could appear to be

             sitting on the bass while he played it. We chose a height that would
             allow him to actually rest on the top step of the spiral staircase.


             I misted him with the water spritzer to keep him from drying. Once

             we had the position, I carefully sculpted his hands and feet and
             added his facial features, ears, horn, and tail.


             We had a bit of an accident when we were trying to balance Dev on

             the base to dry, and he lost his horns and tail. These were easily
             added back once Dev was dry.
