14-18 knot northerly, so the fleet headed out with reefs to sail a long (1.5
mile) windward-leeward, twice around course, with an offset.
It was a pleasure to witness excellent sailing all morning. Thrilling starts.
Good fleet separation. Clean roundings. Very close finishes.
Nobody wanted to quit so we decided to run a short second race,
finishing upwind and close to home. Since that race was started after the
published "last race by" rule in the Sailing Instructions, we called an
audible and scored it as a separate race; a make-up for the unscored
Quarter Barrel Regatta earlier this summer. Award winners, aplenty.
