VOCE Quartet
The last few months have been a busy and exciting time for VOCE. In October, we finished 13th at
International and are delighted to be invited back to next year’s competition in St. Louis. A huge thank you to
all of our Region 1 and Region 15 sisters for all of your love and support along the way.
Less than a week after our return from Las Vegas, we hit the road and spent a day with students from the
Stillwater Middle and High Schools in Stillwater, NY introducing them to the joys of singing Barbershop. Our
dear friend, Jenn Hunter, director of Saratoga Sound Chorus also participated and provided the direction. It
was wonderful working with these eager kids and seeing their parents’ and friends’ reactions to hearing
barbershop for the first time. It was such a great feeling to be part of that and we hope to be able to do this
again in the future.
No rest for the weary. The next two weekends saw us back on the road to sing at the Capitaland Chorus’ 40th
Anniversary Show near Albany, NY and then to the Piedmont Coffee House in Somers, CT where they were
featuring a night of acappella music, We had a wonderful time meeting and making new friends in Region 15
and seeing our friends in Drive Quartet.
Finally, after all of our travels. we were able to spend some time with Mike Gabriella and reviewed our Las
Vegas performance. We discussed our goals for the upcoming year and focused on individual strengths and
weakness as well as unit performance. It was nice to get back to coaching and thinking about the future.
During the holidays, we were busy singing at the Millennium Magic and Valley Shore Acappella Chorus’
holiday shows as well as learning music for the Young Women In Harmony workshop in January. We are
thrilled to work with the young women and are looking forward to working with YWIH director, Laura
Russell who is the Assistant Director and Tenor Section Leader from the Royal River Chorus.
As we all know, this is an expensive hobby and all your help is greatly appreciated. We hope you can visit our
table at Winter Regional and help us in our fundraising efforts. We would love to focus our primary
fundraising by singing and sharing our love of the barbershop craft.
