Sven’s Reindeer Food





               Kristoff and Sven need a healthy snack to stash in the

               cup holder of their new sleigh. This tasty mixture should

                                       be eaten by hand.




                       makes about 4 cups, enough for 16 snacks

                1 cup (140 grams) raw   2 tablespoons olive or     ¼ cup (35 grams)
                    unsalted nuts            vegetable oil      dried tart fruit, such as
                                                                 cherries, apricots, or
                  1 cup (25 grams)         ½ teaspoon salt            cranberries
                multigrain cereal, such
                as Os, flakes, or Chex    ¼ teaspoon ground         2 tablespoons
                                              cinnamon              chocolate chips
                ½ cup (70 grams) raw
               shelled unsalted pump-   ¼ cup (45 grams) dried
                kin or sunflower seeds   sweet fruit, such as dates,
                    (or a mixture)      figs, bananas, or mangoes





               1  Preheat the oven to 325°F (165°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
               2  In a medium bowl, combine the nuts, cereal, seeds, olive oil, salt, and cinnamon.
                   Mix with your hands until well combined. Pour onto the prepared baking sheet,
                   spreading evenly. Bake until golden, 15 to 20 minutes. Cool completely.


               3  Transfer to a medium bowl and mix in the dried fruit and chocolate chips.
                   Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 weeks.
