Nerve wrapping
In this case, a suture of the ulnar collateral nerve of the index finger was performed. To
prevent future discomfort from a secondary neuroma, a vein was harvested from the
forearm to allow for vein wrapping.
This technique is also useful in cases of neuroma in continuity. The vein must be opened to
wrap around the nerve, after which a suture is performed. This technique is also used in
cases involving partial resection of a neuroma where part of the nerve remains intact and
uninjured.
