Wheel Hub Bearing Units
Wheel Hub Bearing Unit insertion with the aid of tool set KL-0041-... (Patented)
The problem with the insertion:
A particular feature of this new wheel bearing design is that the outer safety ring used to secure
the wheel bearing in the housing has been replaced with an innovative snap ring fixed on the
wheel hub side. The wheel hub and the wheel bearing are no longer separated but a complete Wheel hub bearing unit
unit. This means that the wheel hub bearing unit can no longer, as in the past, be inserted by
means of a pressure piece under a press or by using standard wheel bearing tools.
In order to prevent damage to the wheel bearing, it is very important that the pressure force is
applied evenly only on the outer bearing race during installation. Without the appropriate tools,
the bearing can only be inserted into the wheel bearing housing by pressing on the wheel hub.
In this procedure, however, the wheel hub will damage the new wheel bearing.
With the aim to provide the perfect solution for the correct removal and installation of this kind
of wheel hub bearing units, GEDORE Automotive have designed an innovative specialist wheel
bearing tool which can be positioned behind the wheel hub at the outer bearing race, on the 3
snap ring. As a result, the wheel bearing is pressed in via the outer bearing race, and the snap ring
securely latches into place.
The additional use of the KL-0040-2500 hydraulic cylinder allows for easy and hassle-free Snap ring
installation of the new wheel hub bearing unit within just a few minutes - without any risk of
damage to the components.
