                             MAKING YOUR PASSION YOUR PROFESSION

If you have plans to start something on your own, there are rules to follow. It is not

everything goes. In as much as your choice should be deliberate, you must be smart and

analytical, listen to your heart and be able to make a wise choice.

In looking for a way to get up when life throws you down, something to do when the

doors of 'white collar jobs' close, it goes beyond an arbitrary choice of trade or line of
business. Your thoughts may be good, your approach timely, and proposal infallible, but

there is more to it. Do not just go for what looks good, sounds good or is in vogue, look
for where your passion lies. Look for what makes you happy, one thing you had always

wanted to do and cannot take your eyes off it. Do what you are passionate about, what
you truly love to do and could possibly not stop doing. It goes beyond making money and

eking out a living from a trade, it has to do with satisfaction; something that gives you joy
               and fulfillment.

Many people started something because they wanted to make money. They wanted a
quick fix, but it was a wrong premise. Do not make that mistake except you just want

something transient. If you are looking for something that will stand the test of time, and
when you look back in few years to come, you will not regret not working for someone

else, then, you need to do a serious soul searching. People burn out because they do

primarily what brings temporary sustenance, and not what they genuinely love and can
be proud of eventually. What you are looking for is not just money, it is a career, it is a

calling, it is a lifetime commitment, and you should not be shallow about it.

You can draw a long list of what to do like we've done severally in this book and narrow it
down till you are able to zero-in on one thing that you can totally commit to, 100 per

cent. One thing you can give your time to, one area where your passion lies, and you can

easily get result. Do that one thing that flows naturally; that fits in perfectly and you do
not struggle about doing it. If you dance easily but struggle to sing, choose to be a

professional dancer than a singer no matter how the temptation is. Everything has its
high and low moments, what keeps you going at the low moments is not just
