CYLINDER OR SLEEVE CLEANING
 It’s critical that the cylinder or sleeve surface is clean and free of contamination prior to mounting the tape:
o Wash cylinder or sleeve with a 50/50 mixture of Isopropanol and water;
o Wipe surface with a clean, dry cloth.
 Sleeve surfaces may absorb cleaning solvent and must be completely dry prior to mounting the tape.
 Aggressive solvents, if not dried off properly can increase or decrease the adhesion properties of the bond to the
cylinder

PLATE CLEANING
 It’s critical that the back surface to the plate is clean and free of contamination:
o Wash the back of the plate using a 50/50 mixture of Isopropanol and water;
o Wipe surface with a dry clean cloth.
 New Photopolymer plates may contain residue from the plate making process. This residue can lead to plate
lifting and must be removed prior to the mounting process.

MOUNTING TAPE TO PLATE CYLINDER
Exafit Scapa range of cushion mount have different adhesives on each side of the foam. Due to the different adhesives,
the range of cushion mount should be mounted with the non-liner side to the cylinder first:
 Apply tape to the cylinder;
 With the heel of your hand, apply tape to cylinder with a sweeping motion across the face of the cylinder;
 Slowly turn the cylinder and continue to lay down the tape;
 Apply pressure to increase the contact area and adhesion using a plate roller.

PLATE MOUNTING APPLICATION - MOUNTING PLATE TO CUSHION MOUNT
 Remove the film liner from the tape, mount and register the plate. The embossed liner- which is on the plate side
– allows the plate to be easily mounted to the tape with no air entrapment;
 Using a rubber plate roller, roll down the entire plate surface, including the image area, floor and especially the
lead and tail edges of the plate;
 The main aim is to ensure a uniform and a strong bond is achieved to secure the plate from lifting;
 It’s critical to apply firm pressure to the tape and plate to obtain maximum performance from the Exafit range of
Cushion mount.
