Y4 Summer Term Overview
Ask the children to imagine that they are Lilliputians and give them ideas
of how to describe their investigations on the beach when the giant is
found.
Remind them of the importance of using connectives/ conjunctions to
create compound sentences in their stories as well as lots of similes and
describing words.
Alternatively, the children could write a story about a day in the life of a
mini-beast.
LESSON 9
U Using similes
Give the children a list of similes for them to think of things which could
be described using the various similes. Alternatively, give the children a
subject about which to write which would give scope for the use of a
number of similes.

LESSON 10
Writing about hobbies
Let the children share about their hobbies. Ask them to use persuasive
speech in sharing to try to convince others in the class that they should
share the same hobby. Talk about the gifts and talents God has given to
each one of us.
Ask the children to write a short account of their hobby, why they chose
it and several reasons why everyone with similar gifting should take up
that same hobby.
