GETTING TO KNOW YOU BY ASKING QUESTIONS

            Truth to Teach (Source)

Mark 12:31 “Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other
                                  commandment greater than these.”

We can get to know God and one another by asking appropriate questions.

Making friends often involves asking questions.

After a question we use a question mark.

To learn words often used to begin questions.

            Way to Work (Means)

                1. Pretend to be a newspaper reporter. Use a toy microphone to ask the children
questions, e.g. When is your birthday? How many brothers and sisters do you

                    have?

                2. Write the following words on the board: -

what, where, who, when, why, how, which

Use flashcards to reinforce the words. Leave them around the room for a while.
Talk about these words being questioning words when they are at the beginning
of a sentence. Let the children suggest sentences beginning with each of them.

                3. Remind the children that Jesus often used questions to find out more about
people and situations. He tells us to love one another so we need to find out
about each other in order to serve one another and care for one another.

Encourage them to ask one another questions.

                4. Talk about our ability to ask God questions through prayer.

                5. Write a question on the board with a question mark after it. Talk about when we
use the sign in our writing.
