Overview of Y2 Summer Term

            Learning for Life (Fulfilment)

                 1. The children should recognise key features of texts which give instructions. (Short, clearly ordered
                    sentences in the imperative)

                 2. They will begin to realise that God is omniscient and that he waits to show us how to do things if we but
turn to him and ask in faith.

                 3. The children will realise that they can serve others by giving clear instructions on matters known to them
and by following instructions given to a group of people.

                 4. The children should begin to recognise and appreciate an author’s skilful and creative use of words.

                 5. The children will begin to acknowledge the supremacy of God, Creator of all, and that it is the Holy Spirit
who gives gifts and releases creativity and craftsmanship in us.

                 6. They should recognise the gift of writing in themselves and in others.

                                                    CORRECT WORDS
            Weeks 1-11

            Truth to Teach (Source)

Colossians 4:6 ‘Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may
            know how to answer everyone.’

                 1. Direct speech is significant and by writing it down it is less likely to be forgotten.

                 2. We serve the reader by using speech marks to indicate direct speech.

                 3. Jesus’ words were full of grace and truth. He is our example in speech.
